Art Nouveau is a worldwide artistic movement that was most prominent between 1890 and 1910. However, Art Nouveau has stayed fairly consistently popular since it first became widespread. It has also had a recent resurgence, with several modern artists using this older style to design artwork and posters inspired by a blend of Art Nouveau and popular culture.

In this dissertation I asked how the Art Nouveau movement started, and how it became, and stayed, a popular artistic style. I also explored what draws modern artists to this style and what changes the introduction of digital design has had on the practice of Art Nouveau.
