Infographica is a book full of interesting data from around the world, presented as 100 unique infographics. The book contains a diverse collection of graphic visual representations of trivia, including facial hair styles of famous dictators, the bite strength of different animals and the world’s most expensive weddings. Despite the huge range and depth of some of the information that is included, it is the strength of the graphic design in the infographics that helps to communicate the information simply and clearly. Low-Tech Print is a design book that features hand-made, traditional printmaking techniques and showcases how they are used in contemporary graphic design and illustration. It also might be the nicest, most tactile design book that I own.

The books author/curator Caspar Williamson is a printermaker himself, as well as a designer, illustrator and author based in London. He is heavily involved in the printmaking, lectures on the subject and has taught workshops throughout the UK. The book was designed by Studio Aparte, from Barcelona, and the embossed cover was designed by Pentagram designer Rhian Edwards. (more…)

I was asked to design two posters for a Botany Collection, a collections of plants and flowers, at the Natural History Museum in London. I was asked to create the posters using Adobe Illustrator and vector imaging. For this project I had to teach myself how to use the gradient mesh tool in Adobe Illustrator and manage my time effectively, each of these posters took many hours each. View the finished project here.

  • Book Review… Swissted

Swissted is an graphic design poster book that takes rock concert posters from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s and remixes and reimagines them through a Swiss modernist lens. The result is some of the best poster designs I’ve ever seen!
Swissted is an ongoing project by graphic designer Mike Joyce, owner of Stereotype Design in New York City. Drawing from his love of punk rock and Swiss Modernism, two movements that have (almost) nothing to do with one another, Mike Joyce redesigned vintage punk, hardcore, new wave, and indie rock show flyers into International Typographic Style posters.
